A lead developer on Dispatch has revealed that there’s a secret fourth “your Robert” outcome that not a single player has managed to get, at least if the in-game stats are to be believed.
Dispatch is a game all about choice and, even though most of us ended up making Robert a classic good guy, there are actually a few different outcomes you can get. Once you finish the final episode, Dispatch labels “your Robert” as either a “true hero”, an “antihero”, or an “everyman”, depending on how moral you make him.
With two of those choices representing the good and bad direction you can take Robert in, and everyman being right in the middle, you’d be forgiven for thinking that there are just three endgame states for Robert. As it turns out, though, there’s actually a fourth version of “your Robert” that not a single player has unlocked. Well, as far as AdHoc knows, anyway.
Not A Single Player Has Uncovered Dispatch’s Fourth Endgame State
That’s If It’s Not Bugged, At Least
Eurogamer recently had the chance to speak with two of AdHoc Studio’s founders, Nick Herman and Pierre Shorette. During the interview, Herman pointed out that he’s only seen three of the “your Robert” personality tests pop up from players, despite there actually being a fourth endgame result.
Dispatch Not Really Being A Game Is What Makes It A Game Of The Year Contender
Adhoc Games evolves upon the Telltale formula in some incredibly ways with Dispatch.
Herman notes that the team purposefully made the secret fourth result “really hard to get”, but that he’s surprised not a single player has stumbled across it so far. AdHoc has access to all of Dispatch’s back-end stats, so it has proof that no one has finished Dispatch and seen the fourth outcome.
So what is this mystery version of Robert? Herman didn’t go as far as revealing that, but he did confirm that it’s based on “gameplay performance” and requires perfecting Dispatch. Specifically, it’s about perfecting the “non-RNG” elements of the game, which has me scratching my head at what it could possibly be.
It might just be a bug. It’s so hard to do regardless that we were like, ‘Well of course no one’s gotten it,’ but it’s probably a bug. – Nick Herman
Of course, Herman and Shorette acknowledge that the reason it’s not been seen yet is that it could be glitched. As anyone who was struggling with the platinum trophy knows, Dispatch isn’t bug-free, so there’s a chance that some players have beaten the game and just haven’t been awarded the proper “your Robert” outcome. I guess we won’t know until AdHoc tells us.
Divinity Isn’t Just Going To Fill Baldur’s Gate 3’s Shoes, It’s Going To Outgrow Them
Larian Studios has announced the game that will follow in the footsteps of Baldur’s Gate 3.
