It’s a well-known fact that Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to launch with a multiplayer component. Much like Grand Theft Auto 5, the plan was for the base game to release, with the multiplayer modes to follow. Unfortunately, Cyberpunk’s rocky launch meant that any multiplayer ambitions were abandoned as CD Projekt Red focused its efforts on fixing the game.
The prospect of a multiplayer Cyberpunk 2077 was exciting for fans, and it was gut-wrenching when it was canceled, so much so that a group of budding players is aiming to bring it to life themselves. In the works for over a year, CyberMP is aiming to give players what CD Projekt couldn’t, and it could be closer than ever.
In a new post in the project’s official Discord server, the team shared that a recent beta “exceeded all expectations,” becoming “one of the most successful in the project’s history.”
The Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Project Is Making Great Strides
CyberMP just underwent its sixth closed beta. The beta focused on the synchronization of vehicles and players, a new overlay, PvP and racing game modes, and the overall resilience and stability of the platform, among other things. It seems like it was a rousing success.
“The results exceeded all expectations,” said the team in a message on Discord, continuing, “This test can rightfully be called one of the most successful in the project’s history!
Cyberpunk 2077 Is Surprisingly On Its Way To Being More Successful Than The Witcher 3
Night City seems way more attractive than the Continent.
“Over the few days, only a handful of game client crashes were recorded, some of which were not directly related to the CyberMP client. All discovered gameplay bugs have either already been fixed or are being fixed now. We feel we’re reaching a new level and are preparing for even more extensive changes.”
This test can rightfully be called one of the most successful in the project’s history!
Given the success of GTA Online, and the love that players have developed for Cyberpunk 2077 over the last few years, this project seems like a match made in heaven. While there are no signs of a release date just yet, it’s clearly making great progress, and the team warns, “there’s lots of exciting stuff ahead.”
