If you’ve ever watched an episode of Breaking Bad, you’ve almost certainly seen the house in which the White family resides. Few episodes didn’t feature it; the building has become a pop culture icon, and when it went up for sale, bidders lined up to own a piece of peak TV history.
As it happens, the winning bid belonged to one Adin Ross, a controversial Twitch and Kick streamer who has said things, done things, and uh, yep. He’s certainly a person. A person with millions upon millions of subscribers, mind you; naturally, as soon as Ross proclaimed his victory, the internet went abuzz as the world realized a familiar face is about to own a similarly familiar place.
Won’t Be Doing It Dirty
You can go anywhere today and see big posts sharing the news, typically including the video which you’ll see in the Reddit thread up above this sentence. Lots of praise. Lots of hype. No small amount of vitriol, too. Ross, as I’ve already mentioned, has said some things. Rather than giving everybody a link to one of the louder reports, I grabbed something from r/Albuquerque, so that you can see how some locals feel about the deal going through.
Here’s the thing, though. I’m not going to say “credit where credit is due,” because that feels weird, but if you watch Adin Ross’ clip? He does seem well aware of how important it is to maintain the place. “I want that property to be taken care of, bro,” Ross explains. “That is the greatest property of all time.” I feel like that’s maybe overselling it a bit, but I have a degree in cultural anthropology, so what do I know.
“I’m already in talks with a few people who were on Breaking Bad, and I want to give ownership of that property to all the actors as well.” -Adin Ross
As you can see, Ross wants Breaking Bad’s actors to share in the love, which is—hey, it’s cool. He also cites his family, friends, and fellow streamers as probable hangout opportunities. It’s his house, obviously, so that’s fair game. I just hope all those streamers are as eager to keep the property all proper-like as Ross evidently is.
