Farming bosses for legendary weapons in Borderlands 4 isn’t easy. Even if you finally get the weapon you’re looking for, there’s a chance that it may not have the best stats. Min-maxing your build is essentially the whole endgame of the series, and dedicated fans will do whatever it takes to get the best possible versions of the best possible weapons.
However, it’s not just about finding the best weapons, it’s also about knowing how to use them. It’s a cycle of creating an unstoppable build so your farming process becomes easier. Damage per second plays a big part in this, and Borderlands 4 players have figured out a technique to boost the fire rates of those heavy-hitting, single-shot shotguns.
Fire And Reload At The Same Time To Get An Increased Fire Rate On Jakobs Shotguns
Jacobs shotguns like the Hot Slugger and Hellwalker are the best weapons for this, as they trade off their small magazine size for massive damage. As demonstrated in TrashCannibal_‘s Reddit post, hitting reload immediately after firing will dramatically increase your fire rate. In the video, they also show the difference between this method and simply pulling the trigger again. The former was definitely faster.
This method can be applied to any single-shot shotguns in the game, softening the blow of the biggest drawback of those guns. So, if you’re worried about using a powerful Jakobs shotgun because of the low fire rate, this technique will make it a bit better. Of course, you’ll have to master the technique before getting into frantic fights where you need to constantly be on the move.
The comments suggested alternative methods as well. One said binding both shoot and reload to one button will improve the fire rate and make it much easier. But the problem with this is it completely breaks if you swap to another gun. Another said holding the trigger while spamming reload would also work, but that will make it harder for you to move around and perform other actions. It could work on a boss that has a long wind-up animation.
This may be common knowledge among long-time fans of the series, but if you’re a casual, or just picking up the game, this technique may come in handy.
