Black Ops 7 Already Has A Massive Discount

In an extremely fascinating and almost unheard of turn of events, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the heavily-maligned first-person shooter that makes up this year’s annualized Call of Duty entry, is on sale.

Not just any sale, but a whopping 50 percent off across all its platforms (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Xbox One) just one month — Black Ops 7 officially launched on November 14 — after its release.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 Just Proved That The Bigger You Are, The Harder You’ll Fall

Activision has admitted that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fell short, and it won’t make the same mistakes again.

What’s more, it’s not just one retailer either. Black Ops 7 is on sale at GameStop, over at Best Buy and Target, as well as on Amazon. It’s not on sale digitally, though most digital storefronts haven’t had their weekly refresh just yet.

I’ve not decided if I’ll get looped into buying Black Ops 7, but if I was, I’d probably pick up the game at Best Buy since it appears that, at least for now, you’ll get the limited-edition steelbook with your purchase. Not bad.

It’s not uncommon for games to go on sale post-launch. It happens all the time, and especially now with the holiday season in full flux. That said, it is not nearly as common to see a game that was literally just released to be on such a deep discount.

I can’t be the only to remember that, whatever annual Call of Duty title that was out also doubled as the ultimate Christmas gift, and whether you bought the game at launch or waited until Christmas itself, there was almost never a discount. If there was, it wasn’t massive.

No mind, Black Ops 7 is all about breaking the rules.

Black Ops 7 Has Had A Rough Launch, And That Might Be Generous

When Black Ops 7 launched a month ago, it immediately saw its status on Steam tank to “Mixed” and later “Mostly Negative,” with many taking issue with its unrealistic campaign and blatant use of AI.

Things only snowballed from there, as, outside Steam, Black Ops 7 became the worst user-reviewed title in series history. With its player counts, particularly on its campaign free-falling, Activision and Co. began bribing Zombies players. Meanwhile, the requirement of needing to beat the campaign to access the extraction shooter mode was also removed shortly after launch.

For Season 1, Black Ops 7 went all out with a large number of maps and modes, plus a skin that was historically only avaiable for purchase. That, unfortunately, didn’t do much to boost player counts.

Recently, Activision outlined that it would no longer do back-to-back releases of its Modern Warfare or Black Ops series while also seemingly apologizing for the rough state things are presently in. Somehow, the game was the most downloaded title on PlayStation in November, creating a belief that things could not be nearly as bad as they seemed.

Flash forward to today, and it seems like the next logical step is to deeply discount the game and hope that enough people purchase it to not only boost sales and player counts, but to also help bring back some goodwill. We’ll see if that works out.
