Your protagonist can learn many things after your runs in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault. While you won’t get new skills or ways to play the game, you can make Will stronger and last more hits. You’ll meet NPCs and get special objects that unlock new areas for improvements.

Like Helldivers And Risk Of Rain, Moonlighter 2 Feels Like A Whole New Game

Moonlighter 2 changes a lot from the original indie classic, but should it have?

With dozens of possible things that you can improve, you might be wondering where you should put your eyes (and money) first. Don’t worry, we have gathered 13 upgrades that you should unlock first while playing Moonlighter 2, as they will make your earlier game easier and give you more profits for the later hours.

Many NPCs will offer you upgrades for different aspects of the game, like the loot you can find or your total health. We have gathered some that you should focus on at first, below.

Reasons/Notes

Weapon Highlight

Tomo

Especially when starting the game, you’ll need to find relics with higher quality, regardless of their rarity. If you have the chance to find Common and Uncommon relics with more value, you’ll get to your milestones or buy other upgrades faster.

While the description says that “one” weapon is highlighted, it refers to a type of weapon.

Double Chests

Tomo

Double the chests, double the loot. This will help you increase your earnings in no time.

Deluxe Relics Unlock

Tomo

Yes, I’ll include each of the first upgrades in Research because they are indeed that useful. Much like Weapon Highlight, having loot with a higher value will give you more gold in the early stages.

Legendary Perks Chance

Tomo

In the first row of upgrades in Research, this is the last one. You won’t be able to get it early in the game, but once you are able, you should focus on it. Legendary Perks can drastically change your runs for the better.

Extra Potion

Erin

Depending on the type of player that you are, you might focus on dealing more damage or having more health/means to restore it. I’m more of the latter, so I suggest unlocking every possible upgrade for Erin, and having an extra potion is an important one.

Onsen Room

Erin

Before the end of your dungeon, you’ll be able to heal a big chunk (not all, mind you) of your health bar. An excellent choice when the road was tough.

Max. Health

Erin

Following Extra Potion’s comment, making your health bar larger will help you survive longer. And it doesn’t cost many resources.

Potion Room

Erin

Nothing like a refill for when you need extra help. You will see stages with a potion icon, and they will feature Erin, which will give you one potion.

Additional Slots

Sliver

One of the first things that you should be doing, without any doubt, is making your backpack bigger. You’ll have to purchase one slot at a time, which is a boomer, but coming back home with one more relic is already worth it.

It’s worth saying that this will affect your corners’ and top-bottom’s triggers for curses that use them.

Second Perkmeter

K33P3R (Shop’s Chest)

Perks are pretty important while you’re saying your relics because they will let you earn more money from the get-go. Sometimes they will feature new events during your sales.

Uncommon Perks

K33P3R (Shop’s Chest)

Following the previous one, the Common perks in the shop are a mixed bag, so you should unlock this as soon as possible. Uncommon perks can give you nice chunks of extra gold.

When able, you should make progress here and unlock Third Perkmeter and Rare Perks.

Weapons Upgrades

Andrei (Blacksmith)

As soon as you unlock a weapon, you can start upgrading it. Each weapon will ask you for different materials (sometimes, not even the same ones you had to deliver to craft it). So, a quick tip would be to select only your favorite for now and upgrade that one until the late game.

You can also speak to Babyl to upgrade your guns, but I would say that you don’t really need it during the first hours of the game.

Shop Upgrade

Ms. Scratch

Alright, this is perhaps one of the later upgrades you’ll be able to get since you will have to complete quite a few things to unlock it, and saving 25,000 gold can be tough during your first hours. But as soon as Ms. Scratch offers this, you should aim to achieve it. You’ll have more space to sell relics and more slots to save some in your chest, so it would be for the better in the long run.

Tomo is your colleague, and she will get the Research upgrades when you complete the first milestone, and the Vault rewards you with the Merchant Grimoire. For Erin’s upgrades, you’ll have to complete the following milestone and get the Onyx Cauldron.
