Best Skills And Attributes For Alvida In GreedFall: The Dying World

Alvida is one of the most important characters in GreedFall: The Dying World – it’s thanks to her that you can sail around the continent of Gacane in the first place, after all! She’s also quite a formidible combatant, which doesn’t hurt.

She’s a naut, a seafaring navigator and warrior, who uses fencing weapons and support skills to keep your party feeling strong. There might be more vicious damage-dealers and there might be better supporters, but Alvida is a fantastic all-rounder to bring to a fight. Here, we’ll break down the best way to level her up in terms of skills and attributes.

Best Skills For Alvida

Alvida’s development trees all have offensively-based skills to grab, though there are some key things to get that set her apart from other damage dealers, and these are worth making your priority.

GreedFall: The Dying World – Best Nilan Build

Nilan makes for a fantastic support character if you build him right in GreedFall: The Dying World.

Everything in this path is worth grabbing, so the advice here comes down to the order you get things: the right-hand side of the path will make Alvida a better support character, getting her access to beneficial status effects (Power and Retaliation). Make sure you get Spiritual Stamina as soon as possible (attached to Words of Support in the first tier of skills).

Roar of Death isn’t a fantastic skill, but Thirst for Blood (which applies Rage upon dealing a fatal blow) is a wonderful boon to grab as early as possible.

When it comes to the choices upon unlocking Posture Improvements, the better option is the Crit chance increase both times – Fencing Weapons synergise perfectly with Crit chance.

Avatar of Destruction, the capstone skill, is one of the most useful in the game. Once you break the Level 30 breakpoint, this should be your first goal for Alvida.

Fencing Weapons

This is where you’ll find many bread-and-butter skills, so it’s more relevant to speak about the skills that you can leave until later in the game, as they’re not really that useful in the long run:

  • Long Blade Coating is nice, but doesn’t exactly shine until you reach the harder fights of the late-game. You can neglect this until then quite comfortably.
  • Master Duelist and Battle Master are three percent increases in damage and only some of the time. These are easy to ignore.

For the two choices when moving up a tier through Weapon Skill Improvement, we recommend the reduction in Action Point cost and the buff to Shield breaking when the target is Bleeding.

As far as priority goes, this skill tree can be safely left until after you’ve got the more important skills in each tier, namely skills that grant access to buffs and debuffs that define Alvida’s usefulness. On the other hand, once you have them, Killing Touch and Double Blow should be upgraded as soon as possible.

Alvida’s Path

There are a lot of nice combos to grab in Alvida’s path, with only a few dud skills that can wait until you’re simply mopping up the last remnants of her skill trees.

Stun and Opportunistic make for a great pair of skills to get as soon as you get Alvida, while Execution is only situationally crucial to a fight and can be ignored easily. Ambush is fantastic and synergises well with her other effects that work with Bleeding, so should be acquired in tandem with those, and Naut Agility can help wonderfully if you deck Alvida out in your best Dodge equipment.

If you’re giving Alvida heavier equipment and your best Magical Deflection equipment, By Chance is a wonderful skill to grab – she’ll be at 100 percent Life for far longer than other characters! Otherwise, it’s something you can put off until later in the game for more immediately-useful pickups.

Best Attributes For Alvida

As a Fencing Weapons user, you’ll want to give Alvida lots of Agility as a priority. When you can’t improve Agility, you’ll want to balance Endurance and Focus increases.

Alvida is fine with a Focus of 12 for much of the game – her skills aren’t particularly Action Point-hungry, after all. She can also do quite well capping out her Endurance at around 16 – tanks should be comfortably taking the heat off her and your healers should make up the gaps.

With any extra points, funnel them into Perception for the extra Crit chance, which synergises incredibly with her equipment and skills.

The default main character in Greedfall 2.
