Battlefield 6 Peak Player Count Drops Below Baldur’s Gate 3

Battlefield 6 Peak Player Count Drops Below Baldur’s Gate 3

Battlefield 6 was a major hit for EA, even cited by former Activision CEO Bobby Kotick as one of the primary reasons for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s lacklustre performance this year.

With a debut peak of 747,000 concurrent players, it was by far the strongest opening in the franchise, but thanks to aggressive monetisation, AI-generated artwork, small maps, buggy updates, and Season 2’s delay, the game has quickly lost that momentum.

Right now, it has a 24-hour concurrent peak of 89,932 on Steam, and while that’s nothing to scoff at, it marks an 88 percent decline in just four months. To put that into perspective, listed below are the top 20 most-played games on the platform in the last 24 hours.

  • 1. Counter-Strike 2 (1.5 mil)

    2. Dota 2 (839k)

    3. PUBG: Battlegrounds (705k)

    4. Arc Raiders (376k)

    5. Apex Legends (204k)

    6. Rust (189k)

    7. Marvel Rivals (168k)

    8. Bongo Cat (161k)

    9. Wallpaper Engine (143k)

    10. Delta Force (131k)

  • 11. Stardew Valley (129k)

    12. Grand Theft Auto 5 Legacy (121k)

    13. Geometry Dash (106k)

    14. Baldur’s Gate 3 (104k)

    15. Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced (102k)

    16. Warframe (100k)

    17. War Thunder (98k)

    18. EA Sports FC 26 (93k)

    19. Battlefield 6 (89k)

    20. Elden Ring Nighreign (87k)

Battlefield 6 is neck-and-neck with Elden Ring Nightreign for that last spot, and risks falling out of the top 20 altogether as Naraka: Bladepoint and REPO close in.

That’s including the free-to-play battle royale RedSec’s figures.

It’s not just a hemorrhaging playerbase that Battlefield Studios must contend with in the coming year, however, as the game’s recent Steam review score is also plummeting, sitting at ‘Mixed’ with 14,115 entries at the time of writing.

To put it lightly, Season 2 has a lot to prove, with players still waiting on bigger maps, bug fixes, and more rewarding progression, clearly losing patience with the current state of the game.
