Baldur’s Gate 3’s Jennifer English Says Soulframe Role Is Her “Dream Part”

Jennifer English is currently enjoying her stint as the video game industry’s darling. After absolutely smashing it as Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, fans are eagerly awaiting her performance in Tides of Annihilation. However, it seems English is excited for an all-together different part.

The actor has the enviable reputation of starring only in bangers, even though she has admitted to being in a few not-so-great titles. However, playing a conflicted cultist and a reality-bending painter isn’t enough. She will also feature in Warframe developer, Digital Extremes’ upcoming MMO, Soulframe, which she says is her “dream part”.

Jennifer English’s Role In Soulframe Is Her Dream Part

Speaking to GamesRadar+ at The Golden Joystick Awards, English said she absolutely loved her role of Alora, the Empress of Eldveil, in Soulframe. “Oh, my God, it’s my dream part,” she said. “I play a fairy empress, and her morals are in line with nature itself.” To top it all off, she added, “I’m doing a little Welsh accent, and I am thrilled.”

While we don’t have much information on Alora, English revealed earlier this month that she will be voicing the character, who speaks poetically in threes. Considering Soulframe is an MMO, she’ll likely be a central part of the story, and perhaps even a quest giver of some sort. Given English’s popularity, it’s unlikely Alora will be a minor or side character.

Clair Obscur’s Jennifer English Is Right, Queer Joy Is Worth Pursuing No Matter The Cost

After winning Best Performance at this year’s Golden Joysticks, Jennifer English touched on the importance of queer joy in her life.

Since Baldur’s Gate 3, English has become one of the most recognisable voices in the games industry. So much so that those playing Expedition 33 couldn’t help but feel like it was Shadowheart yelling “Parry it!” whenever a Nevron wound up for a massive attack in the game. Of course, English’s performances for both characters were otherwise very different.

Speaking of dream roles, English recently told TheGamer that if she was given the opportunity to create her dream project, it would be outside the video game industry, in the form of a queer genre film. “I would definitely do some kind of queer genre film,” she said. “I’m not sure what, but I’d want to work with The Avengers of shes, theys, gays, and allies. Something really inclusive, and badass, and something that hasn’t been made before.”
