Baldur’s Gate 3’s Addled Frog Can Ruin Your Honour Mode Run

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Addled Frog Can Ruin Your Honour Mode Run

There are plenty of ways to ruin your honour mode run in Baldur’s Gate 3. Dying, lying, and even looking at an NPC the wrong way could result in all your hard work going up in flames. Honour mode is not the time to try new things in your playthrough; just stick to the known patch, weigh your options carefully, and get that damned achievement.

Among all the things that could ruin your run, the Addled Frog in act one is the most inconspicuous. What harm could a cute little frog inflict upon your party? It turns out that merely talking to it at the wrong time could end things for you just as soon as they begin. In fact, some players have already fallen victim to it.

Don’t Talk To The Addled Frog Before Dealing With Auntie Ethel

Auntie Ethel is one of the most interesting NPCs in Baldur’s Gate 3. So interesting, in fact, that Larian brought her back for a second round in act three. However, it’s not just Mayrina that the hag is tormenting, but the woodland creatures around her hut as well. So much so that if you approach the Addled Frog before dealing with her, you’ll most likely trigger a fight, and end your honour run too.

Redditor onyxdk69 unfortunately found this out the hard way, resulting in them having to start their honour mode all over again. If you get into combat with it, that damned frog has a ridiculously strong acid attack and dodges almost everything thrown at it. You could grind out a victory, but depending on how much progress you’ve made in act one, it could easily defeat the whole party.

If you have a chat with it after defeating Auntie Ethel though, the frog will be in a much happier mood and even lead you to a hidden cache. I bet Larian had a laugh with this one. Just one more silly way of ending your Baldur’s Gate 3 honour mode run.
