Sure, there’s something about stopping the Chosen of the Dead Three and a giant evil brain, but Baldur’s Gate 3 really shines in its romances. The great thing about them is that they are all different. Not only is each possible relationship different, but each companion has a unique personality, appealing to varied tastes.
The game features all the classics: the muscle mommy, the goth baddie, the domineering diva, the all-round good guy, the literal bear, and, if you’re really boring, Wyll. While some romances are easy, you’ll have to work for others, with your reward being a steamy scene once you’ve made all the right moves. However, things can get awkward if you’ve forgotten that you have some active spells.
Be Yourself During BG3 Romances, Literally
Casting Disguise Self in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a great way of getting into places that you usually wouldn’t be allowed into. However, it does make you look a bit weird. Unfortunately for Redditor Major_incompetence, they forgot that the spell was active when they went on a date with Karlach. As you can see, things didn’t look too great.
The date usually involves a romantic dinner, some cute conversations, and a steamy scene afterwards. But with Disguise Self activated, their Tav looked completely morphed, with a long neck and extra-wide shoulders. While Karlach didn’t seem to have a problem, it definitely broke the immersion for OP, and us as well.
“Alternatively, disguising Karlach as a masc dwarf and Tav as a strong masc human is probably the most intense romance scene in the game,” said Major_incompetence. “I don’t even know if I’d be allowed to post this here no matter how hilarious.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 Isn’t Coming To Nintendo Switch 2, And No I Can’t Believe It Either
Larian has confirmed that bringing Baldur’s Gate 3 to Switch 2 is sadly out of its hands.
Most spells and status effects tend to wear off during such scenes, but it looks like Disguise Self stays on, giving us this unfortunate scene. Who knows? Maybe Karlach and Tav were roleplaying and were really into it. But, it’s probably worth ensuring that you’ve removed the spell if you don’t want a hilarious surprise.
