Larian’s recent AMA revealed a few things about Divinity. Perhaps the biggest one is that the studio will not be using gen-AI on the game, after CEO Swen Vincke’s comments caused quite a stir. We also learned that Divinity will have mod support, will run on Divinity engine, and… have alligators.
However, we don’t know much else about gameplay and features. While the studio’s previous game, everybody’s beloved Baldur’s Gate 3, is the darling of the industry, there were certain features that the devs didn’t or couldn’t include thanks to the partnership with Wizards of the Coast. Since Divinity will be its own game, fans are hoping to see certain features that were missing from BG3.
Divinity Fans Want Some Of Baldur’s Gate 3’s Features
TurbulentFeeling5696 posed a question to the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, asking what fans would like to see in Divinity, coming off Larian’s previous title. “I think I would massively prefer a slider-based character creator instead of just a selection of preset heads,” they said. “Too limiting for my tastes.” Character creation is something a lot of people look forward too, and BG3’s isn’t as intricate as that of some other games.
Transmog seems to be the most common answer. While players love creating carefully crafted builds, they also like looking a certain way. It’s honestly surprising that Larian never added a transmog system, especially given how much it loves listening to fans. It would have been a great addition to the farewell patch.
However, there were some comments that said they’d like some of BG3’s features to make it into Divinity. The party system was arguably one of the highlights. It would be great to see it expanded upon in Divinity. Another small but important feature was jumping, which made getting around and flanking enemies very convenient.
Larian Studios’ Swen Vincke On Divinity Following In The Early Access Footsteps Of Baldur’s Gate 3
After the global success of Baldur’s Gate 3, we sit down with Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke to talk all things Divinity.
Another player mentioned power scaling, which BG3 did brilliantly. “I’d like the game to scale more like BG3 than DOS2. Where a level up is nice and unlocks some new features but isn’t a giant multiplicative power boost like it is in Divinity,” they said. “In DOS2, you basically can’t take a fight while down 2+ levels. And if you’re overleveled, fights are a total joke.”
