Over the years (yes years, time is moving far too quickly), we’ve seen Baldur’s Gate 3 players break the game in some truly magnificent ways. Even today, we’re seeing people use weaponized orphans to fight their battles, and blow on a horn dozens of times to give themselves an unlimited amount of hit points.
It seems like there’s almost no limit to how often Baldur’s Gate 3 fans can break their favorite games to get an edge in battle, and now one person has found a rather unique way to utilize our best boy, Scratch, to turn him into a terrifying anti-magic weapon.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Fan Pickpockets Scratch To Turn Him Into An Antimagic Field
If you’re an avid Baldur’s Gate 3 player, chances are you’ll be very familiar with Sussur Blooms. These are magical little plants that create a field of antimagic around them, essentially making most spells and magical constructs useless. They’re very helpful in certain situations, but one of their biggest drawbacks is that they can’t be used outside the Underdark, as they shrivel up and die when taken to the surface.

Beware Of This Frog On Your Baldur’s Gate 3 Honour Mode Run
That frog packs quite a punch.
Of course, players have found a few ways to circumvent this effect, taking them out of the Underdark in crates being one of the more prime examples. However, Larian has done its best to make sure Sussur Blooms stay in the Underdark, but as the studio has seen multiple times already, players will always find an exploit to get up to mischief.
A YouTube user called EspressoSteampunk recently shared a new exploit that they found to take Sussur Blooms to the surface, and it involves none other than Scratch. You can see in the video above that EspressoSteampunk summons Scratch into the Underdark and reverse pickpockets the poor doggo, placing a Sussur Bloom in his inventory.
They then fast travel back to the surface along with Scratch, and as you can see, the antimagic field from the Sussur Bloom is still active, letting you use its antimagic properties on the surface. It’s pretty handy if you know you’re going to be in a fight with some spellcasters, as you can simply have Scratch stand next to them to render them completely useless.
Unfortunately, this does have limitations. For example, if you dismiss Scratch and then summon him again, he won’t have the Sussur Bloom on him, which means that traveling between two regions is a big no-no. Experimenting is still taking place though, and someone suggesting petrifying Scratch and picking up his statue to see if that could work. Possibly brilliant, but that would mean harming dear little Scratch, and no advantage in combat is worth committing that particular sin.
