Avatar is a series that makes Disney a lot of money — this isn’t a secret. Avatar is currently tops the list of the highest-grossing movies ever made, while the sequel is sitting at third, with Avengers: Endgame wedged between them. They’ve made Disney well over $5 billion combined, which is more money than you, me, and fifty of your closest friends and relatives will ever see in our entire lifetimes.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is no exception, though it is lagging behind by Avatar’s lofty standards. At the time of writing, Fire and Ash has managed to amass just over $1.3 billion after five weekends, and for some bizarre reason, some fans of the franchise are now convinced that the fourth and fifth movies that were promised a while ago may not come to fruition.
Avatar Fans Are Rallying To Improve Fire And Ash’s Box Office
In a post titled “Dear Avatar fans… Pandora needs us (this is not a drill)” on the Avatar subreddit (thanks IGN), a user called Silver-Squirrell calls upon other Avatar fans to go and see Fire and Ash in the theaters multiple times, even urging them to take siblings or friends. In the post, they explain that they’re putting the call out because they want to see the film do well at the box office, in an attempt to “further make history, solidify the franchise as the box office dominator, and guarantee the sequels.”

Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora Has Quadrupled Its Peak Player Count Two Years After Its Release
The combination of a new movie and more DLC has people flocking to the latest Avatar game.
Understandably, you have some people admitting that they can’t afford to go see the movie in the theater, only to be greeted by sincere offers from other fans to actually buy them a ticket. In a different post, someone apparently even posted an image of their ticket, with the title explaining that they bought it to “help the movie get to top 10 box office.”
Thankfully, there are some voices of reason within the community, pointing out that Disney probably doesn’t need people treating a movie that has already amassed over $1 billion as a charity case. For example, a user called Tall_TJ says that “it’s a movie that made a billion and a half f***ing dollars” and that it “did fine”, while one user called Ahsoka_Tano 888 simply says “we have so lost the plot.”
There also seems to be a belief that Avatar will get sequels regardless of whether Fire and Ash manages to match the box office totals of the previous films, which is understandable. Disney isn’t going to suddenly throw away a franchise that is reliably grossing $1 billion with every single movie, and if it did, there will be far more concerning problems going on at that company than just whether another Avatar movie will be greenlit. Avatar fans, don’t worry, you’ll get more Avatar. If you don’t, then Disney has indeed “lost the plot.”
