Arc Raiders’ Expedition Project is finally live, and those that decided to risk all their loot and skills for a progression wipe have gone forth. Embark decided to appeal to both casual and dedicated players by making the wipe optional, but the community was unsure whether the offerings that the progress wipe offered were good enough to lose all their loot.
It’s been a day since the progress wipe, and some players have gone ahead with it. So, if you’re still in doubt, what better way to clear it up than to hear from the brave raiders who decided to risk it all and embark on these dangerous expeditions.
Arc Raiders’ Expedition Seems To Be A Fresh Start
Over on the Arc Raiders subreddit, a massive thread contains the testimonies of those who went on the expedition. While most players felt like it wouldn’t be worth it, based on the information the devs put out, it seems the expedition feels like a fresh start for those who like the basic tenet of the game: looting.
Since Arc Raiders is an extraction shooter, finding neat loot is one of its main features. Since the game has been out for a few months now, many players have amassed hordes of loot, without actually doing anything with it. Expedition players felt that the wipe helped them get back to the core gameplay loop of the game, while also helping them make better decisions with regard to skills.
“The sole idea of a reset is the process of starting fresh was the fun part,” said one comment. “Now, if the permanent stat buff isn’t “optimally efficient” for the time spent, it’s “trash design.” People would rather spend the last week of a season “ratting” with a rusty knife to hit an arbitrary currency goal than actually getting into high-stakes firefights with the gear they spent months earning. Just play the game for fun without worrying about what you get from it.”
Arc Raiders’ AI Voice Acting Is A Bigger Deal Than You Think
Embark Studios has been vocal about its use of AI voice acting in Arc Raiders.
Another said, “Honestly, the game is more fun now, if you know how to have it. If you don’t, sorry about your unending frustration and lack of joy that you no doubt make everyone listen to everywhere you go. Which is probably mostly on subreddits for all of your favorite “unplayable” games that you have dedicated your life to.”
