Like most always-online, live-service games, Arc Raiders isn’t immune to its fair share of exploits, cheaters and bad actors, sometimes all three at the same time. It’s just what happens nowadays.
However, this latest exploit, one that made the game playable in first-person, hinged on too cool to fix had it not actively impacted the playability of Arc Raiders for those also in the game.
As first spotted by Insider Gaming, a now-patched command-based exploit let players experience the ever-terrifying world of Arc Raiders through the eyes of your Raider, a massive change for the third-person-only game.
Simply put, the game is terrifying.
“I would legit have about 3 times more playtime if there was a first-person mode,” one commenter on Reddit wrote. “Literally, the only thing I dislike about the game is third-person PvP.”
Yet, as cool as it was, it came at the expense of some major FOV changes that disabled environmental mechanics like fog, shadows and trees, putting everyone else at a massive disadvantage.
For its part, Embark Studios has sent out a Hotfix to disable any future commands that could impact games.
“This feature was never meant to be player-facing,” a statement on the official Discord read. “We’re continuing to investigate related reports and may take action where appropriate to protect fair play and the integrity of the game.
“As always, thank you for your reports and see you Topside!”

Arc Raiders’ AI Voice Acting Is A Bigger Deal Than You Think
Embark Studios has been vocal about its use of AI voice acting in Arc Raiders.
While it is good to see a Hotfix deployed so quickly, as one user noted, it is worrisome to think that there was the potential to impact games at a command level.
“It’s very worrying that the client can orchestrate these kinds of things and the server just swallowing all as is,” a user wrote. “This leads me to believe that they have done very little security-related stuff to prevent exploits/cheating.”
Whatever the case may be, it isn’t the first such exploit found in Arc Raiders, not by a longshot.
In The Last Two Months Alone, Arc Raiders Has Been Heavily Impacted By Exploits
In recent days, Arc Raiders was hit with massive complaints over cheating, something that Embark is actively working to combat. That bit of cheating follows the full disabling of an event in December because of a massive surge of cheaters.
If that wasn’t enough, in November, the game found itself impacted by players toying with their graphical settings to get the jump on unsuspecting players. In that instance, players found that by forcing “Low” settings, they were able to “see” other players because the game wouldn’t render those environments.
Although they weren’t able to see players through the low-density environments, they were able to get the jump on the other end. All that is to say, it is a bit worrisome that so many exploits are being found so quickly.
