Last night, Arc Raiders developer, Embark, dropped a blog post explaining that it has completed investigating the duplication glitch that has been plaguing the game. It first started with players duping rubber ducks to make a profit with vendors, but later evolved into players spamming Trigger ‘Nades and Ziplines all over the map.
The post said that the investigation took so much time as the devs wanted to validate each report, confirm exploit usage, segregate accidental usage, and assess overall impact. In short, the devs wanted to hand out appropriate punishments to those who abused the glitch. However, it seems one of the game’s biggest proponents, TheBurntPeanut, got away with a slap on the wrist despite using and showcasing the glitch to his many followers.
Some Raiders Are More Equal Than Others
Embark noted that it will be handing out punishments on a case-by-case basis. Warnings for low-level infringements, removal of coins, and “Suspensions for the severe cases, particularly, where exploit usage had a significant impact on the in-game economy or other players’ experience.”
In our previous report, we noted that TheBurntPeanut not only used the glitch, but showcased it on his platforms, making the glitch more popular among Arc Raiders players. The streamer is undoubtedly one of the most famous Arc Raiders players, even organizing a clan war between popular streamers. You’d think that popularizing the glitch that turned the game upside-down for so many players would warrant more than just a warning. However, that’s just what he got.
A post on X reveals that TheBurntPeanut only received a warning message for his exploits. He did apologize for doing so, but something about the way he apologized tells me he didn’t really mean it. Meanwhile, the comments are filled with players calling this special treatment unfair, as they received suspensions or coin removal for doing the same thing.
“He gets a warning, but the rest of us who don’t have a bunch of viewers get our money taken from us. I’ve never been so pissed at a game developer,” said one comment. Another called out the devs, saying, “So lemme get this straight @EmbarkStudios, everybody else who I’ve seen get this message has had a large portion of their money taken. But Peanut is exempt from that same consequence?”
