Arc Raiders has a rather interesting way of dealing with hackers and cheaters, as it has a system in place that gives players back their items that are lost in “unfair play”.
One of the biggest problems that competitive games have faced in recent years is the rise of cheaters, hackers, and exploits. While they’ve been around for as long as online gaming has been a thing, cheating has only gotten worse as games have evolved, leading developers to find ways to fight off anyone who’s intent on ruining things for others.
If you want proof of how bad cheating has gotten lately, look no further than massive competitive series like Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Battlefield, which all have their own anti-cheat practices in place. Arc Raiders has perhaps the most interesting way of dealing with hackers so far, though, as the developers have pretty much negated the worst thing they can do to other players.
Don’t Worry About Getting Your Loot Stolen In Arc Raiders, As It’ll Automatically Be Given Back To You
Here’s Hoping This Anti-Cheat Doesn’t Have A Workaround
As pointed out by Insider Gaming and originally shared by Twitter user ARCRaidersNews from a post by Redditor Jfourmes, Arc Raiders has a system in place for players affected by cheaters. As you can see from the in-game message above, Jfourmes was automatically given back the items that were stolen by cheaters.
The message says that the items were lost due to “unfair play”, but that they’ve been given back and are now available to claim and take on the next extraction. The developers at Embark Studios noted that they’re committed to “building an environment where gameplay is about skill, teamwork, and fun” instead of “unfair advantages”.
Your items were lost due to unfair play, but we managed to get them back for you! They’re now available for you to claim and take with you on your next journey Topside. We’re committed to building an environment where gameplay is about skill, teamwork, and fun, not unfair advantages. – Arc Raiders
It’s not entirely clear how this process works just yet, but the comments underneath the post suggest that it’s an automatic process instead of something that needs to be reported. Either way, Arc Raiders players are already reacting to the anti-cheat method very positively, especially since there are already reports of cheaters and hackers.
While I’m sure that hackers will come up with more annoying ways to ruin Arc Raiders than just stealing loot and gear, it’s pretty impressive that Embark already has a system in place to negate the worst thing that can happen in an extraction shooter.
