One of the great things about Arc Raiders is that you don’t need high-level gear to go topside and come back with a ton of loot. Not only does the game give you a free loadout augment, but the weapons you get with it are actually considered to be better than some high-tier ones. These free kits are honestly much better than you’d expect.
Developer Embrace is well aware of how great the free kits are, especially when it comes to their economic benefit. It’s a low risk, high reward situation. However, while these free kits are great, the devs have had discussions on whether they’re a bit too good.
Arc Raiders’ Free Loadouts Might Get Tweaked
In a conversation with GamesRadar+, Arc Raiders design lead Virgil Watkins revealed that the devs have been thinking a lot about how good the free kit and its weapons are. He mentioned that they haven’t noticed that much of a profit difference between players using free kits and their own. However, they might adjust what comes with the kits.
“I think it’s the other aspects of it that we’re going to look at adjusting a little bit – whether it’s exactly what they come with, the number of slots they have in the inventory, or the weight,” he said. “I think that’s probably what we’ll play with first before looking at deeper restrictions.” If that’s still not enough, the devs aren’t against changing out the weapons too.

The team is “working hard on mitigations and solutions to fix the problem.”
“And then, adjacent to that, we’ll be looking at the weapons that come in those kits and seeing if they require some adjustment,” added Watkins. “If the Stitcher is way too effective even at level one, sure, we’ll adjust that so it fits more appropriately in the perception of what that should do. But again, if you have that free kit, and you are playing well or playing intelligently, you should still be able to win that fight.”
Dwelling a bit more on free kits versus custom loadouts, he said that the concerns about them feeling too strong are definitely real, but they’re on a case-to-case or anecdotal basis. “If you came fully loaded and ended up in a situation where a guy with 30 light bullets managed to take you down, what led to that situation?”
