Now that Arc Raiders is a few months old, we know what its best perks are. So, whether you’re embarking on the expedition project or just respecing your build, you’ll be able to choose the best skills in the game. However, some of the descriptions may make you think that a perk may be useful, when in fact, it’s quite the opposite.
The Calming Stroll stroll perk regenerates your stamina while walking as if you were standing still. That sounds great for when you’re hoofing it across the map or need to extract in a hurry. However, one fan has done the math to prove that the perk is an absolute waste of a skill point. Prepare to be scienced!
Don’t Get The Calming Stroll Perk In Arc Raiders
It seems Reddit user this-food9601 wasn’t quite sure if the perk actually helped when it came to trekking over long distances in Arc Raiders. So, they decided to run some experiments in the game’s practice range to check whether it’s faster to use Calming Stroll to walk and regenerate stamina, or to just sprint and jog like usual.
One important thing to consider here is that Arc Raiders has a walk option that most of us don’t use. The slowed sprint after your stamina is drained is called jogging.
They ran a number of tests to figure out Stamina drain, regen, and movement speed over 40 meters. With these, they could deduce that the distance covered during the entire stamina regen was 82.51 meters for jogging, and 28.0599 meters for walking.
A lot more math was then applied to figure out the overall distance and time that would have been covered based on these numbers. “At the time the jogging friend reaches full stamina, you are not only ~0.7 meters behind, but also only have ~65% stamina remaining,” they concluded. “There is absolutely no justifiable reason to use Calming Stroll over default jogging if your goal is to get to a target location as fast as possible.”
Arc Raiders Should Have Been At Least Nominated For This GOTY Category
Arc Raiders Sound Design is fantastic, and it’s a real shame it didn’t get a nod at this years Game Awards.
Of course, this only applies to getting from one place to another in the fastest manner. The perk could definitely help in close quarters areas and fire fights, but don’t rely on it if you need to go the distance.
