Just days after multiple streamers and content creators exposed a growing problem of cheaters in Arc Raiders, the extremely popular extraction shooter from Embark Studios, its studio has acknowledged the complaints and outlined what will be done to combat the epidemic.
As first spotted by GamesRadar, via a post on the game’s official Discord server, Embark has confirmed that it is aware that there are ongoing instances of bad actors in its live-service title.
“We’ve seen the discussion around the topic of cheaters in ARC Raiders,” community admin Ossen said. “Please know that we are taking this issue very seriously and are listening to, and acting on, your feedback.”
In order to nip the problem where it’s at, “significant changes to our rulesets” and new detection mechanisms will be implemented to, hopefully, stop cheaters in their tracks at the onset.
“This includes updating our Anti-Cheat systems for improved detection and bans, as well as applying client-side fixes specifically addressing the ‘out of map’ glitch,” the outlined changes read. “Furthermore, we are introducing tools for streamers to help mitigate stream sniping.”
One thing that GamesRadar notes, and is an important element worth noting, Embark has not detailed just how long these bans will be and whether they will be permanent bans, as is usually the case with other competing titles.
It is, however, the first and most significant step in attempting to save the game before it gets overrun with bad actors attempting to ruin the experience for others.
The Cheating Epidemic Was Bad Enough That Someone Considered Quitting Over It
Before things came to a head, with multiple personalities detailing the rampant issues that are impacting Arc Raiders, one prominent player threatened to quit over the issue.
Shroud, one of the game’s biggest champions and a massively popular content creator, was “ready to quit” over the issue, though they’ve seemingly kept up with the game, having uploaded a video on their YouTube as recently as six days ago.
Just days before that, one of the most anticipated events in the game had to be temporarily removed because of a massive influx of cheaters. In the infamous bunker event debacle, players were abusing exploits to teleport through walls, among other things.
Which is to say, cheating has been prevalent but things have gotten way out of hand, so much so that Embark must finally act before it’s too late.
Just How Much Of Battlefield 6 Is AI Generated?
The slow creep of AI generated cosmetics in Battlefield 6 has made me start to doubt the rest of the game.
