Metin2 may have debuted back in 2004, but Gameforge’s long-running fantasy MMORPG continues to find ways to stay relevant. The publisher has confirmed that the game’s next major update, Tyranny of Aamon, will go live in November and will be preceded by a month of in-game events and community activities starting 8 October.
The patch introduces Moonshadow Vale, a brand-new region featuring fresh quests, dungeons and loot. For a game that’s been around 20+ years, adding an entirely new zone is a sizeable investment, and one aimed at both veteran players hunting new challenges and newcomers looking for a jumping-in point.
- Explore Moonshadow Vale, a previously hidden area filled with high-level mobs and story quests.
- Tackle new dungeons and a central boss encounter against the sinister Aamon.
- Craft and collect additional weapon and armour sets, including new boots.
- Join a four-week pre-launch event (8 Oct – 5 Nov) featuring weekly missions, Twitch Drops, Metin Fever weekends and double-EXP Sundays.
- Enter raffles for in-game items, limited-run merchandise and two desktop PCs outfitted with Ryzen 7 7800X3D and RTX 5070 Ti hardware.
Metin2 remains free-to-play PC via the Gameforge launcher. While the MMORPG landscape has become crowded with newer options, the title’s fast-paced combat and low system requirements have helped it maintain a dedicated player base, particularly in Turkey and Europe, where Gameforge continues to localize and operate the servers.
The live patch is expected to arrive later in November, with exact timing to be announced in the coming weeks.
