Haunted Hollows Await in Zenless Zone Zero’s 2.3 Update

HoYoverse has penciled in October 15 for Version 2.3 of its stylish action-RPG Zenless Zone Zero. Dubbed “Memories of Dreams Bygone,” the patch expands the game’s neon-soaked New Eridu setting with a spooky detour into the newly opened Timesworn Hills.

This is the third major update since the game’s full launch, continuing the studio’s rapid patch cadence. Expect the usual mix of fresh characters, events, and combat tweaks, but this time with a ghost-story spin that leans into the title’s urban-fantasy tone.

Main additions in Version 2.3:

• New region – Timesworn Hills: An abandoned mining zone rich in Lumite ore and even richer in unsettling folklore.
• Three recruitable agents:
  • Lucia (S-Rank, Ether Support) – builds Dream Points to buff team HP and damage.
  • Yidhari (S-Rank, Ice Rupture) – trades low HP for higher damage, always pierces defenses.
  • Komano Manato (A-Rank, Fire Rupture) – deals Sheer damage that scales with max HP.
• Returning banners: Vivian (Ether – Anomaly) and Ju Fufu (Fire – Stun).
• Combat updates: Soldier 0 – Anby receives a full kit rework aimed at smoother combos and higher sustained damage.
• New modes:
  • Threshold Simulation – multi-squad gauntlet that links separate battles into one tactical puzzle.
  • When Dreams Remain Unfinished – limited-time event with turn-based skirmishes using monster units; clear it to unlock Manato for free.
• Quality-of-life: an upgraded “SNAP! Shining Strike” photo mode with better camera controls, filters, and frames.
• Login rewards: 600 Polychromes, 10 Encrypted Master Tapes, and 10 Boopons during the patch window.

Timesworn Hills is more than a backdrop. Its abandoned labs tease the aftermath of New Eridu’s early Hollow expeditions, adding threads for lore hunters while giving action fans new enemy types tied to hallucinations and hypnotic attacks.

HoYoverse also previewed a handful of future agents such as Banyue, Dialyn, Zhao, and Ye Shunguang, signaling that the studio plans to keep its roster expansions rolling roughly every six weeks.

Zenless Zone Zero is available on PC, iOS, Android, and PlayStation 5 with cross-save support. The game blends real-time combo brawling with roguelike dungeon runs, a formula that so far has helped it carve out its own space alongside HoYoverse’s better-known hits.
