As for what FromSoftware could be doing instead, it’s still supporting Elden Ring Nightreign and the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods is in active development for a 2026 release. However, neither project could be classed as the developer’s next big thing, like a true single player RPG. That may still be a few years off from an announcement.
However, as Sony owns the Bloodborne IP, it theoretically doesn’t need FromSoftware involved to bring the PS4 classic back. It was Bluepoint Games that worked on the Demon’s Souls remake for the PS5 launch, which is an IP also owned by Sony.
Despite the ball being pretty much entirely in Sony’s court, it’s apparently still not choosing to do anything with what the hardcore PlayStation audience considers a classic. You can still play it on PS5, but only at 30 frames-per-second via backwards compatibility.
