Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate no longer exists.
The next mainline instalment in the decades-old franchise was announced years back, but executive producer Yosuke Saito has confirmed that the project ran into quite a lot of trouble.
Basically, development was scrapped, and the whole thing was restarted.
The game’s now called Dragon Quest 12: Beyond Dreams, and features a sleepy-eyed protagonist who suffers from strange visions.
The above trailer actually shows Dragon Quest 12 in action, but there’s not a whole lot that we can learn from what is a very brief glimpse at gameplay.
And unfortunately, it does sound like this one’s still a long way off from release. Series creator Yuji Horii says that production is going well, but this new version of Dragon Quest 12 is clearly quite early in its development.
