Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is getting let out of PS3 prison, and it feels good. The stealth classic makes its way to consoles people actually play nowadays — the PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S — later this summer, in August, and over an hour of gameplay footage has now been published.
Skip the opening ramble in the video above and you’ll get to see the first act of Metal Gear Solid 4 running on PS5.
Of course, this isn’t the kind of update you would see from a proper remaster or remake project; it is more about getting the game on newer systems with a simple resolution boost and better frame rate. Still, the latest video highlights small updates, little improvements, and what’s changed and what’s stayed the same.
Fans have been looking through the footage to find any variations, but one important thing that will stay the same is the iPod is still in the game. The “No Place for Hideo” box is still in there, and the main menu and save / load features have been updated.
Besides that, this is Metal Gear Solid 4 running on modern hardware. That’s all I need.
