The next game in Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come series is apparently a lot closer than you or I would have thought.
Given that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 released in February 2025 — to rave reviews, no less — most would have assumed that its follow-up is at least four or five years off.
Hell, the first Deliverance came out in 2018; it took Warhorse seven years to get its sequel sorted.
But according to the developer, the next title is targeting a launch somewhere between April 2027 and March 2028. Considering just how long most AAA projects take to ship these days, that’s a rather quick turnaround.
“We won’t have to wait that long until the next game,” community manager Tom Grey reassures, while speaking on a recent livestream.
“That’s the aim,” he continues.
Oh, and it’ll remain an “open world RPG”, just like its predecessors, for those wondering.
So, we’re looking at the next fiscal year for more Kingdom Come, which is quite exciting. However, it should be noted that as of right now, we don’t have any real insight into the project’s scope.
It could be that this is a smaller title built on the bones of Deliverance 2, as that would explain the surprisingly close release window.
Having said that, Warhorse itself has experienced significant growth over the last few years. It bulked up a lot in order to produce Deliverance 2 — easily its biggest ever game — and it’s continued hiring ever since.
And remember, it’s also working on a Lord of the Rings game. Busy times for what is fast becoming a very impressive outfit.
