Dragon Quest Day is almost upon us, and if fresh rumours are to be believed, the annual celebration is going to be one heck of a blowout.
The big day is happening this week, on the 27th May. To be clear, this was always going to be an important showing because it’s the franchise’s 40th anniversary — but the hype is now starting to peak.
Indeed, fans on Reddit have discovered eight unlisted videos on Square Enix’s official Dragon Quest playlist over on YouTube. From what I understand, these videos were only recently added.
The suggestion, then, is that we’re in for a lot of reveal trailers — one of which is surely going to cover the re-reveal of Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate, which has been completely missing in action for years at this point.
There have also been whispers of a Dragon Quest 8 remake or remaster, but they’ve never stemmed from any reputable sources.
Still, it would make some sense for Square Enix to revisit that stone-cold PS2 classic, given the success that the company found with the recent Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined.
We will, of course, be covering Dragon Quest Day 2026 right here on Push Square. The promised livestream — which will almost certainly prioritise Japanese viewers — hasn’t been given a start time yet, but fingers crossed at least one of us will be awake to check it out.
