Taiwanese dev SIGONO’s photography-themed adventure OPUS: Prism Peak attracted rave reviews earlier this year on Switch and PC, making it among the top 15 highest-rated games of 2026.
Now it’s been confirmed for the PS5, where it’ll launch later this year. Sony’s been showing off a version of the game at BitSummit in Kyoto this weekend.
I’ve seen this game several times at various indie events around Taipei, and I’ve always been struck by its vibrant artwork.
The game sees you assume the role of a “middle-aged photojournalist retreating from a life of disappointment in the city to find solace in your roots”.
A chance accident sees you stranded in an ethereal mountain realm, where alongside a mysterious girl, you must use your camera to piece together clues and learn the secrets of this unusual, enigmatic world.
This game’s got real Makoto Shinkai vibes to it; the colours and the character art remind me a lot of Weathering With You and Suzume. I’m sure both films served as a source of inspiration.
As I mentioned previously, reviews for this game were incredibly strong, with RPG Fan awarding it a remarkable 92, describing it as an “outstanding adventure”.
The site wrote: “At times haunting yet hopeful, it reflects life and reminds us how we grow from experience. I teared up often – sometimes from sadness, and sometimes from the bittersweet yearning to reach for something more, no matter the winding paths we take.”
I’m really excited to play this, so I hope it’s not too long before it launches.
