It does seem like Ubisoft’s gone all-out with Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, given how it’s overhauled so many of the original game’s fumbles.
But sometimes, it’s the smaller things that really start to add up. Case in point, the upcoming remake will feature a one-button toggle for the entire user interface.
Obviously, Ubisoft’s gained a meme-worthy reputation over the years for producing games that have obnoxiously busy HUDs, with compasses, objective markers, quest descriptions, equipment indicators, numerous button prompts, and much more constantly vying for your attention.
And so the ability to simply… turn it all off in an instant feels like a stroke of genius. For the record, Resynced isn’t the first to offer this, but you’ve got to admire the inclusion as a commitment to the remake’s quality of life.
I’m left thinking that this feature should probably be considered for most games — especially open world ones. Granted, plenty of them have photo modes these days, but that’s not quite the same as being able to disable the HUD and take a walk with no distractions.
Like I said, it’s ultimately a small detail, but it’s certainly proven to be popular on social media, where the official Assassin’s Creed account has received a huge amount of praise for simply pointing the toggle out.
What button’s it going to be, though? That’s the all-important question…
