Sony’s dropped a new commercial for the PS5 Pro, revolving around the premise “every detail matters”.
The video spotlights a handful of games, chiefly Ghost of Yotei, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and EA Sports FC 26.
It alludes to some of the advantages you’ll get with the refreshed hardware, including “super sharp visuals”.
Obviously the PS5 Pro, along with all Sony’s consoles, increased in price earlier this year. It now costs a frankly unfathomable $899.99/£789.99.
Commenters on the YouTube video have been quick to point that out, with one joking: “Every price increase matters.”
But I do think it’s important to mention that the console has come on leaps and bounds with the introduction of PSSR2, which is really beginning to reap dividends across a variety of different titles now.
While the supercharged system did have a rocky release period, almost all of the issues have been resolved with Sony’s upgraded proprietary upscaler, and its work here will also benefit the PS6.
Obviously, it’s still a lot of money to ask for mostly marginal visual improvements, and it’ll be interesting to see how it sells throughout the rest of the year.
I suppose GTA 6 will be a really important moment for the machine, because you’d expect it to look and run best on the PS5 Pro – but how much better is it going to be? I’m actually quite excited to see.
