I was the perfect age to enjoy the X-Men animated series, so I’ve always been a big fan of Cyclops.
Indulge me for a moment, then, while I enthuse about Scott Summers’ impending addition to PS5 and PS4 beat-’em-up, Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
This is shaping up to be a big year for the character, as Netease has also been teasing him for Marvel Rivals.
But if you own a copy of Tribute’s award-winning brawler, you can play as Cyclops today. He’s part of a $3.99 DLC bundle, also featuring The Thing.

- The no-nonsense leader of the X-Men and one of the most-requested additions by fans, Cyclops blasts into battle to make quick work of foes with his signature kinetic energy beams. Cyclops’ optic blasts can also be shot diagonally, providing an excellent counter for aerial enemies – and opportunities to catch opponents off guard.
- The Thing
- The Fantastic Four’s heaviest hitter brings his cosmic radiation-induced might to the fray, excelling in MARVEL Cosmic Invasion as a grappling-focused powerhouse. With surprising mobility allowing him to bounce across environments to get the jump on enemies, this former ace pilot embraces his new role as a tanklike protector of family and allies alike, arriving as an incredible asset to any team.
I’m even more excited to learn the Canadian dev has a second DLC pack plotted for later this year, which will “offer fresh challenges […] alongside even more playable characters”. More on that will be revealed in due course.
I’m not sure it’s possible for beat-’em-ups like this to blow anyone’s socks off in 2026, but Marvel Cosmic Invasion was dependable retro fun, wasn’t it? It’s sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide so far.
I’m definitely going to pick up this DLC pack, and I’m interested to see which other characters get added later in the year.
