Sony has today confirmed it’s raising the price of PS Plus Essential, the service’s base tier, for new subscribers.
The increase comes into effect from this Wednesday, 20th May 2026 due to “ongoing market conditions”, and raises the prices of one-month and three-month memberships. It seems the 12-month option isn’t impacted. If you allow your current PS Plus membership to expire, you will need to start paying the increased price.

The price increases shall only apply to “select regions”, but Sony doesn’t clarify which ones. “This price change does not apply to current subscribers (except in Turkey and India) unless the existing subscription changes or lapses,” it confirms in a social media post.
