Following its appearance at EVO Japan this weekend, dev Arc System Works has confirmed Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is entering the “final stages of development”.
This follows confirmation of The Incredible Hulk and Shuri’s Black Panther, who will round out the Fighting Avengers squad alongside the already announced Captain America and Iron Man.
So far, 14 characters have been revealed for the game, with six more still to be unveiled. Fans believe a tease at the end of the latest trailer is hinting at Carnage, who will likely join Doctor Doom as part of a villains-style squad.
Sony has been bringing updated builds of this fighter to most fighting game tournaments around the world, and we know a new version featuring Black Panther and the new Wakanda stage will be playable at Combo Breaker in Chicago later this month.
With the release date locked for 8th August, it’s actually only three months until this game comes out, so we’re sure the team is almost done at this point, and just adding final balance passes and polish.
It’s going to be interesting to see which venues Sony chooses for the final few character reveals.
