As per usual, three PS5 and PS4 games are up for grabs through PS Plus Essential in May. Sony’s entry-level subscription has been pretty solid in 2026 so far, and we think this is another decent selection — albeit with a caveat or two.
For starters, EA Sports FC 26 is the headline act. Obviously, the annual football sim — formerly known as FIFA — racks up crazy sales every year, and so you’d suspect that a lot of PS Plus subscribers will already own this one.
What’s more, sports titles naturally divide opinion. Chances are, if you’re not into the sport to begin with, then you’ll have little interest in the video game adaptation.
Still, FC 26 is a solid enough instalment. If your real-life team’s been having a tough time this season, then you could do worse than jumping into career mode in an attempt to rewrite history.
Next up is Wuchang: Fallen Feathers — a Chinese Souls-like that was met with rather lukewarm reviews upon its release last year. There is some good action to be found here, however, and a number of updates have improved the experience since launch.
And last but certainly not least, we’ve got the highest-rated game in the lineup: Nine Sols. This surprisingly bloody Metroidvania is one of the best examples of the genre that you’ll find on PlayStation, featuring some impressively tight action and a cool story.
We’d highly recommend checking it out.
