There is a chance we will see much more from Hugh and Diana in the future, as Capcom is now seemingly exploring the idea of turning Pragmata into a franchise.
During a press conference in Las Vegas earlier in the week, Capcom USA’s chief operating officer Rob Dyer revealed that Pragmata is another IP it can explore in the future. “We’re to a point now where we’ve got another IP that Capcom — and god bless them, has an arsenal — that we can continue to go down,” he said in full.
Dyer’s comments come off the back of Hugh and Diana’s adventure selling over one million copies in its first two days on the market. It took Capcom over six years to reach that point, as the title was originally revealed during the first PS5 showcase of 2020.
During that time, the Japanese development team apparently took feedback from the company’s American divisions to improve the experience through focus tests and demos. “It was worth the effort,” concluded Dyer.
Capcom is having an incredibly strong year so far, with Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3, and Pragmata releasing to critical and sales success. It’s still got Onimusha: Way of the Sword to launch in 2026, marking a standout year for an incredibly consistent publisher.
In our Pragmata PS5 review, we awarded an 8/10 score and showered praise on its hacking-focused gameplay. Sharing how it “knows its strengths and leans into those hard, and the result is a cracking action game that just feels brilliant to play”, we’re certainly signing up for a sequel.
