Mega Man 2 is widely regarded as one of the true NES all-time greats – but what if you want to play it anywhere, at any time?
The new Mega Man: My Play Watch features a “redesigned” version of the 8-bit Capcom classic, redesigned for touch screen play on your wrist.
Here’s what the blurb says:
“Mega Man auto-runs through each stage while players time jumps and navigate hazards using simple touchscreen input. Players rapidly tap the screen to fire and tap-and-hold to control jump height, creating a streamlined experience that captures the feel of the original game in a format built for quick sessions.”
This being a digital watch, it features all the modern health flourishes you’d expect, including a step tracker and calorie monitor – all with a Mega Man theme, of course.
Amusingly, the maker describes its lack of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity as a positive. “No Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi, no notifications, and no apps,” the description beams. “It’s designed to deliver a focused, distraction-free experience centered around play and simplicity.”
You can select the artwork of the main clock face, even choosing backgrounds inspired by the franchise’s infamous US box art. And there are alternate straps you can use to mix and match.
At $79.99, this isn’t a cheap novelty, but it does look fun. Pre-orders are open now at GameStop; we couldn’t find a European listing just yet.
