We finally got an update Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse at CinemaCon 2026. While a few new images may have gotten fans excited about what Miles and the crew will be up to, a release date of June 18, 2027 has deflated that excitement. Despite all this time, the movie is still over a year away.
The newly released pictures, however, may make the wait worth it. A total of four images were released, one showing Miles having a heartfelt moment with his late dad, and another featuring a stylised fight with Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O’Hara), However, it’s the other two images that really make things interesting.
Beyond The Spider-Verse Will Strongly Feature Miles’ Dad
The first picture in question features fan-favourite Spider-Punk, with the words, “Gonna save your dad” lettered around him. Considering Mile’s dad dying was a major plot point and an in-universe canon event, we can only assume that at some point the plot swings to saving Jefferson Davis.
Of course, considering the multiverse, “saving your dad” could be in a completely different context. Perhaps it’s Prowler Miles’ dad that needs saving. We’ll only find out the actual context once the trailers or the movie is out. The next picture shows younger versions of Jefferson and Aaron Davis, the latter of which became Prowler in Mile’s universe. Either it’s a flashback or some other multiverse madness. Either way, at least three of these images confirm that Miles’ dad will play a major role in the movie.

Spider-Verse Helped Change The Landscape Of Animation
We have a bright path ahead of us.
Beyond the Spider-Verse will likely bring the beloved trilogy to an end. While this stunning animated trilogy is probably the best Spider-Man related thing to happen at Sony since the first Tobey Maguire movie, the massive time gaps between the movies has been nothing short of painful.
There was a five-year gap between the first two movies, and now a four-year gap till the third. Of course, I’m aware that the brilliant animation takes time, and I’d rather the creators take that time than resort to diving into the AI slop-verse.
