Over the weekend, a hacking group by the name of ShinyHunters claimed to have breached Rockstar Games, the developer behind Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto. They gave the company until April 14 to respond to its demands.
Rockstar, for its part, acknowledged the breach, with a spokesperson saying: “We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organization or our players.”
Flash forward to today, and the group has released the data, its requests seemingly ignored.
As first spotted by Kotaku, the group posted a message on the dark web, along with a link to download the files.
Your Snowflake instances metrics data was compromised thanks to Anodot.com. We do not operate a Telegram channel and this data was never for sale like reported on X (formerly Twitter) for $200k. It is now leaked. How does it feel to be the headline?
According to those who’ve had an early look at the files, it’s mostly financial-related, with specific information about much the likes of Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online are pulling in and the kinds of player spending habits that have been tracked.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Is Never Living Up To The Masterpiece In Our Imagination
GTA 6 will probably be great, but it can’t be everything its community imagines.
It seemingly does not include any source code for any titles, or any leaks for Grand Theft Auto 6, which lines up with Rockstar’s own admission that it would have no “impact.”
Either Way, The Data Is Extremely Fascinating
The highlights of the data, which have been shared on Reddit, as well as in the GTA Forums, point to something long-time fans have already been keenly aware of: Grand Theft Auto Online is a force of its own.
Of note, GTA Online is pulling in nearly 10 million weekly active users over a decade since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5. On the other end, Red Dead Online, Rockstar’s attempt at cornering the market of Red Dead fans, has only averaged just under 1 million.
Some other major bits of information include the fact that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of GTA Online have nearly 3 million users on their own, though the PS5 edition leads the way with nearly 3.5 million weekly active users.
Elsewhere, Shark Cards and GTA+ Memberships bring in over $9.5 million on a weekly basis, with Shark Cards averaging nearly $1 million a day. Finally, the U.S. leads GTA spenders, followed by the UK and Germany in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
The rest of the data is worth a look, and more will likely be revealed.
