Sekiro Fan Turns The Soulslike Into A Tony Hawk Game

Sekiro Fan Turns The Soulslike Into A Tony Hawk Game

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice turned FromSoftware’s soulslike genre on its head. In place of the usual slow and deliberate combat style, it focused on parries with speed and timing. Even the genre’s movement and traversal was revolutionized thanks to the grappling hook. It was pretty cool when it came out, but was it radical enough?

One mod creator definitely didn’t think so. In a bid to make Sekiro even cooler, they decided to turn it into a skateboarding game. Jet Set Sekiro adds Jet Set Radio’s skateboarding movement, tricks, and general shenanigans to the game. Now I’d like to see Isshin try to keep up with Wolf as he ollies over him.

Why Grapple Hook When You Can Skateboard In Sekiro?

As spotted by PC Gamer, it’s not just flips and tricks that you can perform, Jet Set Sekiro also tasks you with tagging areas of the Fountainhead Palace. It’s a separate level with a special objective: collect spray cans and tag all the specified locations before the timer expires. It’s a nice break from the frantic parrying and slashing.

While it includes skateboarding, it’s still Sekiro, so expect some enemies along the way. You can skate through them to attack them and perform tricks when close by if you want to do more damage. Some of them will drop spray cans that you can use to tag locations. Also, you need to be careful while skating, because you can faceplant if you lose balance or jump at the wrong time.

Sekiro No Defeat anime.

Sekiro: No Defeat Needs To Get These Key Things Right About The Game Or I’m Not Watching It

I don’t want much, but I can’t be happy if Sekiro: Ne Defeat lacks these key elements.

It’s quite a leap to turn a soulslike into a skateboarding game, but creator Ionian-MikiriyAKATotallyNotShinobi did a great job with the overhaul, the animations, music, and overall vibe hits the sweet spot between Jet Set Radio and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. All that’s required now is for the creator to add Bam Margera and this could be one hell of a skateboarding game.

Hopefully, they will be able to add more of Sekiro’s levels to this mod. Perhaps even some bosses as playable skaters.
