Fortune’s Weave Receives PEGI Rating

Last September, Nintendo made every Fire Emblem fan jump with joy when it announced a new entry in the long-running franchise, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive title that would launch at some point in 2026.

With a near-three-minute-long reveal trailer, Nintendo gave some early story clues, plus a first-look at gameplay before vanishing. Because ever since that September reveal, things have been radio silent on Nintendo’s part, but some eagle-eyed fans believe that the wait could be over soon, thanks to a now-revealed PEGI rating.

Nintendo’s next big RPG could take the world by storm just like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Things Are Heating Up In The World Of Nintendo

Over on Nintendo’s GB site, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has a PEGI 12 rating, noting that it has “Violence,” “Bad Language,” and “In-Game Purchases.” Normally, that would be nothing to look into, but as Fire Emblem fans pointed out, that PEGI 12 rating wasn’t always there.

Rather, as recently as April 7, the Nintendo eShop page for Fortune’s Weave had a provisional PEGI rating in it. That rating was also PEGI 12, as Nintendo likely assumed that this is where things would land when the game passed certification.

Where does that leave us? Well, Nintendo could be gearing up to dish out some more news on FIre Emblem imminently. Where things get particularly interesting is whether that means a new Nintendo Direct is on the horizon.

That “In-Game Purchases” label shouldn’t cause too much of a worry. Several other Nintendo first-party titles have had that label, and it almost always has to do with Nintendo Switch Online functionality rather than dedicated microtransactions.

As recently as two weeks ago, reliable insider NateTheHate reported that there won’t be a standalone Nintendo Direct until June. However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any Nintendo Today reveals or the like.

Recent rumors have suggested that Star Fox is coming back in a major way beyond Fox McCloud’s appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and that the reveal will happen sometime in April. Without a Direct, that makes Nintendo Today or social media a logical avenue.

Of course, Nintendo could just wait until June for all of this.

On top of all this is the fact that Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave isn’t the only first-party title to have its rating updated, as Splatoon Raiders also had its rating changed, and just like Fire Emblem, it once had a provisional rating that no longer exists.

What’s more, they’re not even the only titles that have had ratings. Guardians of the Galaxy, the 2021 Eidos-Montreal-developed title starring the titular Marvel characters, also recently had a Nintendo Switch 2 rating submitted, hinting that a port could be on the way. Elsewhere, Devil May Cry 5 also seems primed for a Switch 2 release, with a separate SKU being rated in Taiwan.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and in this case, the abundance of age ratings hint at some major news soon.
