Mega Evolution is the big Pokemon gimmick in Pokemon Champions, and anyone who has played Pokemon Legends Z-A or Mega Evolution at all knows how this mechanic can completely change the battle you’re in. Your Pokemon will undergo a transformation, with a brand new form available to them that’ll change several of their aspects.
With Pokemon Champions and Mega Evolution being an integral part of battling, you’ll want to get your hands on Mega Stones for your preferred Pokemon and equip them so you can transform your Pokemon partner in battle. Prepare to mega evolve in your next match with this explanation.
How To Get Mega Stones
Before you can equip Mega Stones, you’ll need to get your hands on some. You can get Mega Stones through the Battle Pass or by purchasing them in the Frontier shop.
For the Season M-1 Battle Pass, there’s only one free Mega Stone available, and that’s the Dragoninite. Every other Mega Stone will require you to unlock the Premium Battle Pass to access.
In the Frontier Shop menu, the Mega Stone section showcases every available Mega Stone to purchase. Each will cost you 2,000 VP.
Trading Pokemon over from Pokemon Home into Pokemon Champions can also get you the corresponding Mega Stone. This works for Chesnaught, Greninja, Delphox, and Floette when transferred over from Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

How To Equip Mega Stones
Once you’ve got your Mega Stone, it’s time to equip it to the corresponding Pokemon. To do so, follow these steps:
- Head to your Pokemon box and select the Pokemon in your box or party.
- Choose “Give an item to hold.”
- In the item menu, use the L or R button to scroll through the options until you come across the Mega Stone section.
- Select the Mega Stone to give it to your Pokemon.
That’s it. You’ll see the Mega Stone next to the Pokemon in the team party menu, and you’ll know it’s equipped. When you head into battle, you’ll be able to Mega Evolve your Pokemon.
How To Mega Evolve
When you’re in battle, you’ll have to find the perfect moment to Mega Evolve. To do so, when it’s your turn, after you select fight, you’ll see the option to press R to mega evolve in the corner. Hit R and you’ll Mega Evolve.
You can only Mega Evolve once per battle, so you’ll need to be strategic with when and how you pull it off.
