Dead As Disco Early Access Release Date Revealed

Dead As Disco Early Access Release Date Revealed

Dead as Disco is already saving itself a place on my Game of the Year list, as its May 5 early access launch date has just been announced at the Triple-i Initiative.

If you’ve been on gaming TikTok, then chances are good that you’ve seen Dead as Disco before. It’s an indie game that has you fighting to the beat of the music like a glorious combo of Sifu and Hi-Fi Rush, and ever since its demo launched last year and let players do battle to their own music, it’s been a viral hit.

I’ve spent far more time than I care to admit messing around in Dead as Disco’s demo with my own questionable tracks, just waiting for the day that we finally get more information about the full game. That day is finally here, as Dead as Disco’s early access release date has just been confirmed.

Dead as Disco was one of many games featured in today’s Triple-i Initiative showcase, and developer Brain Jar Games, Inc. brought the goods with the announcement everyone has been waiting for – a release date. Dead as Disco is going to be launching in early access in just a few weeks’ time on May 5.

The incredible trailer (which you can check out above) that accompanied that announcement gave us our best look yet at what Dead as Disco is all about when you’re not dropping drum and bass songs into Infinite Disco. Four idols will be available to fight in the early access version of the game, alongside over 30 streaming-safe songs in the Infinite Disco mode.

The press release for Dead as Disco’s early access launch says that it includes the “first arc of a rich narrative campaign”, which likely means there’s plenty more idols and story fights to go.

You’ll also be able to restore “The Encore” music club, unlock boss abilities and skill trees from the Idols you fight, and customise Charlie Disco with a range of skins, accessories, and animations. Considering this is just the early access launch and Dead as Disco can be near-infinite including your own music tracks, it’s a very stacked launch that’s set to take over the rest of my year.
