Mortal Kombat 2 Official Popcorn Bucket Revealed

Mortal Kombat 2 Official Popcorn Bucket Revealed

Mortal Kombat 2 is finally coming to cinemas later this month, bringing with it another healthy dose of intense gore and martial arts, and a slightly ludicrous and absurd popcorn bucket with a production value that is far higher than necessary.

Yes, Mortal Kombat 2 will continue the trend of pretty amazing popcorn buckets that we’ve been seeing recently for the biggest blockbusters out there. For example, The Super Mario Galaxy movie had two popcorn buckets, one which was really, really tiny because it was supposed to be tiny Bowser’s cauldron, and a massive adorable Yoshi bucket to celebrate his silver screen debut.

Mortal Kombat 2’s Popcorn Bucket Lets You Become Shao Khan

Mortal Kombat 2’s bucket is just as cool, as it was shared on the Mortal Kombat leaks subreddit by a user called Jataaka. As you can see in the embed above, the bucket is just a regular black bucket, but you get a fancy Shao Khan helmet to put over the top. The top of the helmet then opens up, letting you get at the popcorn inside.

It’s pretty goofy, and gives you an actual Shao Khan helmet that you can wear, provided your head is the same size as a popcorn bucket. If not, it’s still a pretty cool thing you can stick on a shelf as part of a Mortal Kombat collection.

That being said, we have no idea how difficult it’s going to be to actually get one of these. Right now, we actually have no idea where these are being sold, and the fact that the production value is so high may suggest that it’s going to be pricey and potentially limited. In fact, you already have scalpers doing what scalpers do best, as a listing for one of these helmets is already up on Ebay for $79.99.

Whether they’ll reach the dizzying heights that the scalpers were selling the Yoshi buckets for, we’ll have to wait and see. If it’s based on pure popularity, I can’t see them being sold for that much, and to be honest, I’d probably buy a Shao Khan helmet that looks that good for $79.99 even if it wasn’t a novelty popcorn bucket. But then again, I’m a sucker for tat.
