In just one month’s time, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will officially turn 10 years old. The Naughty Dog title, and its subsequent expansion, The Lost Legacy, stand as the last Uncharted-related projects released on PlayStation hardware, with the studio then releasing The Last of Us Part 2 before beginning work on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
As nice as all that is, Nathan Drake and his band of treasure hunters have been missed deeply, with many wondering if we’ll ever see an Uncharted 5 or spin-off title anytime soon. Apparently, that was actually a consideration over at Naughty Dog.

Uncharted 3’s Boat Should Be As Iconic As Uncharted 2’s Train
The train gets all the love, but the boat is an epic set piece that spans several levels.
In a new episode of Insider Gaming’s weekly podcast, reliable insider Tom Henderson revealed that, prior to COVID, Uncharted 5 was something floated by the first-party studio. In discussing some new rumors involving the franchise, Henderson said the following:
“This isn’t the first time that Naughty Dog have floated with the idea of Uncharted 5. I know there was some planning going on Uncharted 5 before COVID.”
That Naughty Dog floated a return to one of its hallmark franchises shouldn’t be too surprising. Before The Last of Us was a thing, the studio did look at revisiting Jak and Daxter, so there’s precedent. It also helps that in a world of expensive development costs, Uncharted is as sure of a bet as it gets.
Recently, Shaun Escayg, the co-director of The Lost Legacy, took to Instagram to share that he was doing “research.” He posted a photo of a canon that was later researched to be situated at Fort George in Trinidad & Tobago, a prime-looking locale for a new Uncharted.
Though a new Uncharted has not been outright confirmed, it’s been further rumored that Naughty Dog is actively working on two games, one of which is the previously-revealed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
That said, Uncharted is not the only marquee franchise in Naughty Dog’s playbook, as Neil Druckmann also recently took to Instagram to seemingly tease more The Last of Us content.
At this point, it seems like anything and everything is on the table. That should be good news for fans of PlayStation exclusive titles, and bad news for those lacking in patience.
