Klei Entertainment has announced that it will reveal a new Don’t Starve game on April 9 during the triple-i showcase.
This announcement can be found on the Don’t Starve Together website after completing a puzzle (or just by clicking this link), in the form of an animated logo obscured by fog.
While some have speculated that Klei is teasing the upcoming mobile port, or the Tencent-developed Newhome, a developer confirmed on the ‘Don’t Starve (Unofficial)’ Discord server that this is for an unannounced project made in-house.
“I want to clarify that this is a new game,” Zarklord explained. “If you knew about it before that ARG website link, then it’s not this game […] I can also confirm it’s not DST mobile. As was stated on the page, it’s a new game.”
Don’t Starve 3, Roguelike Spin-Off, A Remaster — What Fans Think The New Logo Is Teasing
Nobody has worked out what the logo is yet, and there’s no metadata on the website hiding the answer. Fans haven’t even come to a consensus on what the first letter might be.
Things We Wish We Knew Before We Started Don’t Starve Together
Don’t Starve Together has been out for a little while now, but for newcomers, here are the things we wish we knew before we started.
The most popular theories vary from a roguelike spin-off to a pseudo Don’t Starve 3 (if you count Together as ‘Don’t Starve 2’), or just a remaster of the original. A few fans have even joked that Klei might be making a kart racer. There are no leaks or clues beyond the ARG page, so it’s truly anyone’s guess right now.
Judging by the community’s efforts thus far, and just how little of the logo is shown, it’s hard to imagine anyone figuring out what Klei is teasing. Thankfully, we’ll find out for certain soon enough on April at 9am PDT, during the triple-i showcase.
