NetherRealm, the studio behind Mortal Kombat and Injustice, is cooking something, and they’re soliciting QA Testers to further help shape whatever it is. That QA Tester could be you, provided you meet the qualification requirements, which include residing in or near Chicago.
As first spotted in the Mortal Kombat subreddit, NetherRealm, via a LinkedIn callout, is hiring some QA Testers for an upcoming AAA game. Unfortunately, the job description, as available on the Warner Bros. Discovery careers website, is pretty light on details as to what that could be.
“Knowledge of video games across multiple game consoles (Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony) or PC,” is one of the listed requirements, which should come as no surprise given the hardware that past titles, including the more recent Mortal Kombat 1, are available on. Otherwise, it’s a pretty standard job listing.

Still, that the in-development title is at the point of QA testing should be a good sign for those waiting for the next major title from NetherRealm. Even with its post-launch expansion and myriad DLC offerings, MK1 did release in 2023, so it’s been a bit.
It’s Been A Long Time Since We’ve Had A New Injustice
Yet, for as long as it’s been since MK1, it’s been even longer since Injustice 2. Believe it or not, we’re approaching a full decade since the sequel to the original Injustice: Gods Among Us released.
It’s a good thing, then, that most of the significant rumors surrounding NetherRealm’s upcoming title are pointing to a return of DC superheroes and villains fighting each other.
As recently as May 2025, it was reported by a MultiVersus leaker that NetherRealm was going back to the Injustice franchise. Normally, that rumor would be disregarded, but they had a lot of info about the inner workings of WB.
That specific bit of information followed up a previous report that NetherRealm’s next title would prominently feature a story mode. Of course, recent Mortal Kombat entries have also prominently featured a story mode, but Injustice feels like the most appropriate for a big-budget mode.
Whatever it may be, with Summer Game Fest right around the corner, there could be an announcement lurking.
