Which Character Should You Play As In Raccoin: Coin Pusher Roguelike?

You will be throwing coins and trying to reach your new high score in Raccoin with six different characters. These are cute animals that have their own real-life jobs and hobbies, and they focus on different perks, passives, and types of coins with their own playstyles.

There’s only one character available at the start of the game, and you’ll have to complete certain conditions to unlock the other five in the roster. In this guide, we will go over how to unlock every character in Raccoin, and we’ll also explain their features so you know which character you should use.

Manager

Manager in the Character Select screen in Raccoin.

As the first character that you can use, Manager has some of the most welcome and approachable perks in the whole game. For example, you’ll use Math Coins, which have the simplest effects for the most part (they add value to your other coins). Plus, Manager’s perks give you two more Exchanges per round and a bonus for how many tickets you can earn.

The best part about Manager is that you don’t have to unlock them: they are already available from the beginning. We recommend using them for a few runs until you get a good idea of the game, even if you unlock the next character in the process.

9 Best Indie Game Developers

Indie developers have been driving the games industry for decades.

Biologist

Biologist in the Character Select screen in Raccoin.

Biologist is all about flora and fauna, so you’ll be encouraged to play using Animal and Plant coins. These types start adding some difficulty, because they usually need other coins to have an effect. For example, Bunny Coins need other Bunny Coins to pair with and activate their effect. Hunters like Wolves need Bunnies to gain more value.

This is still beginner-friendly due to not-so-complex effects and the chance to earn special coins after using exchanges.

This is the first character you can unlock. To do so, you need to play a run with Manager and reach round 8 (it doesn’t matter if you lose afterwards).

Chemist

Chemist in the Character Select screen in Raccoin.

Still on the easier side of things, Chemist is a lovely dog that focuses on Element Coins. With these coins, you’ll be making many explosions that will help you push your coins in every direction.

Modifier Prizes are great for turning regular coins into good ones, and good ones into great coins. The chance to stack up five of them is exclusive to this character.

Also, the TNT and the Whirlwind Coin are some of the most useful ones you can get early in the game, so you’ll be fine with this dog.

To get Chemist, you need to reach round 9 with Biologist.

Trader

Trader in the Character Select screen in Raccoin.

Trader likes to see the Spin Wheel spin, so it will shorten the combo you need for your Spin Energy. This wheel will spawn balls with prizes or throw different amounts of coins onto your board, so having this perk comes in handy when you’re already good at making combos.

You won’t find very tough coins with this class, apart from the Jetoin, which has a random value when scored (it can even take away points, so be careful). Trader is unlocked after playing with Chemist and reaching round 10.

Astronomer

Astronomer in the Character Select screen in Raccoin.

Now things are getting more interesting. Astronomer’s coins have a unique mechanic called Astrofall, which lets them jump around the board and land on another part. There are different ways of triggering this feature, and you’ll usually get more value for your coins when doing so.

This can be a tricky character, but we recommend it since once you get the hang of it, you’ll go far. Especially with the Sun coin and some modifiers that let you take the most of it. Also, you get a free use of an Astro coin per round, which is ideal for using your most useful one at the beginning of each new round.

To unlock Astronomer, get to round 11 with Trader.

Big Eater

Big Eater in the Character Select screen in Raccoin.

Big Eater can be considered one of the most complex characters, though that doesn’t mean that it’s really that hard to use. Like other archetypes, their coins get real value when you mix them with others. This character uses Food coins, such as Chococoin, which aren’t special by themselves, but you can use them as ingredients with others to make them better.

This character has the exclusive Cooking Pot gadget as a perk, and it lets you, well, cook your coins to get enhancements. To unlock the class, you need to reach round 12 with the previous one, Astronomer. It’s close to finishing the run, since round 15 is the last one.
