After all the hype, Crimson Desert’s launch was marred by several issues. Confusing controls, rough visuals on base consoles, and AI-generated assets are just a few of the things that have resulted in it getting an overall “Mixed” reception; however, it has improved since then. Developer Pearl Abyss addressed these concerns, and has already rolled out an update to fix some of them.
Update 1.000.149 for Crimson Desert is out now, and has fixed quite a few of the annoyances that players complained about. The major points are that the combat feels much smoother after some improvements to controls, boss fights have become easier, more fast-travel points have been added to the world, and a Private Storage chest has been added for your burgeoning inventory.
Crimson Desert Update Vastly Improves Combat And Controls
The update has fixed a number of quest-related issues, including some game breaking bugs in the Reunion and Turnali’s Request quests. It also makes it clear when Kliff’s crime status prevents a quest from progressing, and improves the process to repair the ancient generator in the Mysterious Pot quest.
A slew of content changes and improvements have been made as well. Primarily, more Abyss Nexuses have been added across the map to make fast-travel easier, and a Private Storage has been added to the temporary lodgings in Hernand and at the Howling Hill Camp. Several other gameplay improvements have been implemented, like reducing the number of hits required to log trees and removing the need to aim directly at them. Materials and items found across the world will also be easier to spot.
In terms of controls, UI certain inputs have been made more responsive, especially the jump input. Aiming with a lantern will now feel much better as well, and issues related to key bindings have also been addressed.
In terms of combat, boss fights should be much easier, as they now have reduced health and damage. Stamina consumption on blocks has been decreased and stun gauge accumulation has been increased. Boss weakness will be displayed regardless of the player acquiring the knowledge, and bosses will run away less often.
Other fixes and changes include NPC behavior, the addition of a 120Hz mode for consoles, crashing issues, and various graphical improvements.
