There are many reasons why Resident Evil Requiem has been successful. Stunning visuals, great acting, engaging puzzles, and tons of neat references are only some of the reasons. However, there is a case to be made that Leon’s new “hot uncle” look may have also played a small part in it.
There’s no doubt that Resident Evil fans have been thirsting for the once rookie cop for a while, but it’s not just his looks that have been distracting some people. When Leon or Grace are at critically low health in Requiem, they both grunt and groan in pain. Some people find them a bit too distracting, if you know what I mean. In fact, somebody has even made a mod to mute them.
There Are Two Kinds Of Resident Evil Fans
Whether it’s because it’s annoying, or because of the sexual connotation, almost 400 people have downloaded the Mute Leon’s Grunts and Groans mod from Nexus Mods. I get it, some people may be playing without headphones, and some of those groans could get a bit awkward. What’s funny, though, is that the comments section is filled with requests for a mod with more grunts and groans.

“Great mod! Can you also make one that replaces all of Leon’s dialogue with his grunts and moans? for no particular reason,” said one of the comments on the Nexus Mods page. This was followed by a number of comments saying “+1”. Maybe they really like the voice acting, or want the pain to seem more realistic. Who are we to judge?
It’s pretty funny seeing the difference between the two crowds – one set is either annoyed or put off by the constant groaning, while the other owns its simping and asks for the exact opposite of the mod. If I had to guess which would get more downloads, I’d put my money on the latter. In fact, there’s already a shirtless Leon mod with over 4,500 downloads, if that’s any indication.
